Jayavarman VII constructed Rajavihara in honor of his family. The design of Ta Prohm is that of a typical "flat" Khmer temple. After the fall of the Khmer empire in the 15th century, the temple of Ta Prohm was abandoned and neglected for centuries. The trees growing out of the ruins are perhaps the most distinctive feature of Ta Prohm. The temple was used as a location in the film Tomb Raider.

Ta Prohm fu uno dei primi templi iniziati da Jayavarman VII nel suo grandioso programma di costruire molti edifici. Ta Prohm (Predak Brahma) je veliki kmerski budisticki hram.
Jayavarman VII construi Rajavihara em honra de sua familia. A imagem principal do templo, Prajnaparamita, representando a personificacao da sabedoria, foi modelada na mae do rei.
Comme les autres temples khmers, Ta Prohm est inclus dans une enceinte de grande dimension (1 km sur 700 m soit environ 60 ha)
